About this app
See your queue as a board, and your deadlines on a calendar. Lanewell turns any view or saved search into a Kanban board inside Zendesk. Drag a ticket to another column and Lanewell updates the ticket for you: its status, custom status, group, assignee, priority, type or any drop-down field. A second tab puts the same tickets on a calendar by due date or any date field, and dragging a ticket to another day reschedules it.
Lanewell is built by Great Work LLC. It is not made or endorsed by Zendesk.
Boards built from what you already have
- Any view or saved search is a board: shared views, your personal views, or a search such as
group:"Tier 2" status<solved. The cards are your real tickets, so there is nothing to copy or keep in sync. - Columns by status, custom ticket status, group, assignee, priority, type, or any drop-down or checkbox field.
- Swimlanes by any of the same, for example columns by stage and a lane per agent.
- Choose the order of columns, hide the ones you do not need, and pin groups or agents so their column is always there.
Drag, and Zendesk updates the ticket
One drag sends one update with only the fields that change. Moving a card across a column and a lane changes both in the same update.
- Safe updates: if someone else changed the ticket since your board loaded, Zendesk refuses the change instead of overwriting it. If they moved it too, Lanewell lets you choose: move it anyway, or keep their change.
If Zendesk rejects a move (a required field, a closed ticket, an assignee outside the group), the card goes back and you see Zendesk's reason.
- A Move to button on every card for keyboard users and touchpads.
Work-in-progress limits
Set a limit on any column. Columns at their limit turn amber and over their limit turn red.
Choose per board whether a move over the limit is allowed and flagged, or refused.
Cards that show what your team needs
Admins choose up to 8 lines per card: requester, assignee, group, priority, status, type, due date, created, updated, tags, or any custom field.
Click a card to open the ticket in Zendesk.
Calendar tab
- The board's tickets on a month calendar, placed by task due date or by any date field on the ticket.
- Drag to reschedule. A due date keeps its time of day; a date field gets the new date. Tickets with no date wait in a side list, ready to drop onto a day.
Overdue tickets are marked, and each agent sees days in their own Zendesk time zone.
Shared boards and your own boards
Admins save boards for the whole team, or for chosen groups only.
Every agent can build and save boards of their own.
Boards hold layout only (source, columns, lanes, limits and card lines), never ticket data, and they are stored in your Zendesk: shared boards in the app's settings, personal boards on the agent's own profile.
Plan (billed monthly by Zendesk)
Standard: $5 per agent per month. Boards, swimlanes, WIP limits, the calendar tab, shared and personal boards: every feature, no limit on boards. 14-day trial; Zendesk asks for a card at install and billing starts when the trial ends unless you uninstall.
Your data
Lanewell runs entirely in your browser inside Zendesk. There is no Great Work server, no account to create and no API token to paste. It reads tickets live from Zendesk, 100 at a time and up to 500 per board (an admin can set 50 to 1,000), keeps them in memory only while the board is open, and writes only the changes you make by dragging. It sends nothing to Great Work or anyone else (not even usage statistics), keeps no copies of your tickets, offers no bulk download, and uses no AI. Details are in the data access section and our privacy policy.

Installationsanweisungen
Install Lanewell from the Zendesk Marketplace and choose the Standard plan. The 14-day trial starts now; Zendesk asks for a card and starts billing when the trial ends unless you uninstall.
- Optional settings: the most tickets one board reads (500 by default, 50 to 1,000) and whether calendar weeks start on Monday. Under Role restrictions, limit the app to the roles or groups who should use it.
- Open Lanewell from the left navigation bar. Every agent starts with a "My open tickets" board. Click New board, pick a view or a saved search, choose what the columns and swimlanes are, add work-in-progress limits and the lines each card shows, then Save for the team (admins) or Save my board.
- Drag a card to another column or lane to update the ticket. Open the Calendar tab to see the same tickets by due date or any date field, and drag a ticket to another day to reschedule it.
At install Lanewell adds one user field, "Lanewell: saved boards (managed by the app)", which holds the layouts agents save for themselves (never ticket data). Shared boards are kept in the app's own settings. Uninstalling removes both; your tickets keep every change agents made with the app.
